Overview

Iressa 250mg Tablet is an anticancer medication used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer, especially with endothelial growth factor receptor gene (EGFR) mutation. Such as exon 19 deletions or exon 21 (L858R) substitution mutations. The Iressa tablet contains 250mg of gefitinib, which belongs to the class of tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Gefitinib inhibits the abnormal EGFR enzyme activity and interrupts the signaling pathways that lead to the proliferation and survival of cancer cells, thereby slowing or stopping tumor growth. A doctor conducts genetic testing to confirm the presence of an EGFR mutation to progress in the therapy.

The tablet must be taken orally and swallowed whole with water and should not be crushed, chewed, or opened. The prescribed dose and duration of the Gefitinib 250mg tablet depend on the patient's condition and response to treatment. It can also be taken with or without food. Patients are advised not to change the dosage and timings prescribed by the doctors because it can cause severe side effects.

Common side effects can include diarrhea, skin rash, dry skin, itching, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, mouth sores, and weakness. A few patients can undergo severe side effects, including interstitial lung disease, severe skin reactions, liver problems, and eye disorders. Most of the Gefitinib 250mg tablet side effects can leave when the body adapts to the medicine. However, report to your doctor if you experience serious side effects.

Patients must list all medicines, supplements, and herbal products that they are taking. The Gefitinib 250mg Tablet must be used under medical oversight or medical supervision only. Attend regular tests and follow-ups to monitor the medicine response and reduce side effects. Before making any adjustments, changing the dose, or stopping the treatment, consult with your doctor to maximize the benefit.
