Overview
Virarazer Tablet is a once-daily fixed-dose antiretroviral combination containing efavirenz 600 mg, emtricitabine 200 mg and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg. Efavirenz 600mg tablet is an NNRTI; emtricitabine 200mg and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg are NRTIs. The three medicines suppress HIV at complementary points in reverse transcription.
Efavirenz tablet-based single-tablet regimens were widely used as first-line ART for many years. Current international guidelines often prefer integrase-inhibitor-based regimens such as dolutegravir because of improved tolerability and resistance profile, but efavirenz 600mg-based therapy remains an established alternative in selected settings.

Uses and Indications
The Virarazer Tablet is prescribed for the treatment of:
- HIV-1 Infection
This fixed-dose combination is used for the treatment of HIV and is not indicated for PrEP due to the efavirenz tablet contained in this drug, which makes a full treatment regimen. The doctor reviews the resistance profile to HIV, renal function, presence of hepatitis B, pregnancy conditions, and other drugs used before taking this combination or when switching to this drug. Tenofovir isoproxil fumarate 300 mg and another NRTI in this combination are effective against hepatitis B; thus, withdrawal of the combination in those patients infected with hepatitis B may worsen the condition.
How Virarazer Tablet Works
Efavirenz 600 mg tablet inhibits an enzyme known as HIV reverse transcriptase, which is required by HIV in replication of its genetic material. On the other hand, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg tablets and emtricitabine 200 mg tablet get metabolized in the body to form compounds that are analogous to nucleotides for viral DNA synthesis and prevent further replication of viral genome.
Clinical Evidence for Virarazer Tablet
Efavirenz-based ART trials: Large trials established potent viral suppression with efavirenz 600mg plus two NRTIs and made this a historical global first-line standard.
Modern comparative trials: Dolutegravir-based regimens have generally shown better resistance/tolerability profiles, informing current guideline preference.

Critical Safety Warning
CNS/PSYCHIATRIC AND HBV WARNING: Efavirenz 600mg tablets may lead to notable side effects in the brain and nervous system, particularly at the start of treatment. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg-based treatment must not be discontinued abruptly in patients having hepatitis B, since it leads to an increase in the condition, thereby causing serious liver complications.
Virarazer Tablet Dosage and How To Take It
Important: Dosage and scheduling will always be determined by the treating physician. The strength indicated on the packaging may not equate to the dose of the medicine for the patient. Do not make any changes in the regimen based on information gathered from the Internet.
| Clinical situation | Dose |
|---|---|
| Fixed dose | One tablet once daily when this complete regimen is clinically appropriate. |
| Administration | Often taken on an empty stomach at bedtime to reduce efavirenz tablet-related CNS adverse effects. |
| Renal impairment | Fixed-dose combination may be unsuitable when component dose adjustment is needed. |
| Switching | Do not switch from a suppressive modern regimen solely for convenience without resistance/history review. |
Virarazer Tablet Missed Dose
Take a missed dose when remembered unless close to the next dose. Do not double. Maintaining daily adherence is critical to avoid viral rebound and resistance.
