Tudobest 300mg Tablet (Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate)

The Tudobest 300mg Tablet contains tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) 300 mg, a nucleotide reverse-transcriptase inhibitor. It is used as part of combination antiretroviral therapy for HIV-1 and as an antiviral treatment for chronic hepatitis B. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg tablets must never be used as HIV monotherapy because resistance and treatment failure can develop. The medication is primarily eliminated by the kidneys, and hence the renal status needs to be considered while on the medication. However, the bone status may also have to be considered for some patients.

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300mg can be prescribed for:

• HIV-1 infection—in combination with other antiretroviral agents as a complete regimen.
• Chronic hepatitis B (HBV)—To decrease levels of hepatitis B virus in the body and control the infection.

In cases of HIV-1 infection, the Tudobest 300mg Tablet is taken together with other drugs that fight against this disease, since this medication is not an independent therapeutic agent. In patients with chronic hepatitis B, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300mg tablets are one of the most commonly prescribed antiviral drugs due to their high potency and high barrier to development of resistance. The duration of the treatment course depends on the individual case and can be long, especially in patients with cirrhosis. Also, an HIV test is necessary before taking TDF independently as a therapy for hepatitis B infection.

The tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300mg tablet gets activated by getting converted to tenofovir diphosphate in the body. The active form inhibits the enzyme activity required for the production of viral DNA in HIV and hepatitis B virus (HBV). Thus, it prevents further replication of the viruses in the body.

HIV treatment experience: Tudobest 300mg Tablet became a widely used NRTI backbone because of potent once-daily activity in combination ART.

HBV trials: Long-term studies established durable HBV DNA suppression with the Tudobest 300mg Tablet and a high barrier to resistance.

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate tablet may cause some side effects. They can be different from one person to another. Some side effects are mild while some might require medical care.

• Abdominal discomfort

Serious side effects

• Renal tubular injury/Fanconi syndrome
• Reduced bone mineral density
• Severe HBV flare after stopping
• Lactic acidosis/severe hepatomegaly (rare)

• Urine may be tested for protein and glucose when needed to look for signs of kidney problems.
• In hepatitis B, HBV DNA and ALT may be checked to see how well the infection is controlled and how the liver is working.
• When used as part of HIV treatment, HIV viral load and CD4 count may be monitored to check treatment response.
