Paclicine 260mg Injection (Paclitaxel Protein Bound)

Paclicine 260mg Injection contains conventional paclitaxel, a taxane cytotoxic chemotherapy medicine. It is widely used in ovarian, breast and non-small-cell lung cancers and AIDS-related Kaposi sarcoma. The medicine stabilises microtubules and prevents their normal breakdown during cell division, causing mitotic arrest and cancer-cell death.

Conventional paclitaxel 260mg injection requires careful IV administration and premedication because its formulation can cause severe hypersensitivity reactions. The 260 mg vial is not a standard patient dose; treatment is calculated in mg/m² according to protocol; however, take the medication only under medical supervision.

Paclicine 260mg Injection is applied in the treatment of the following types of cancer:

• Ovarian cancer: This refers to a cancer that arises from the ovaries and can metastasize to other body parts.
• Breast cancer: This cancer is caused by an abnormal growth of cancer cells in the breast tissue.
• Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC): This type of lung cancer is caused by an abnormal growth of cells in the lungs.
• AIDS-related Kaposi sarcoma: This cancer refers to cancerous growths in tissues, mainly linked with AIDS.

However, such cancers may follow a weekly, dose-dense, or every-three-week treatment program as prescribed by the doctor.

The mechanism through which paclitaxel 260mg works involves binding to a protein known as beta-tubulin, making the microtubules more rigid. This makes the cancer cells unable to undergo normal mitosis, resulting in them being unable to divide further.

Ovarian platinum/taxane trials: Paclicine injection along with platinum drugs performed better as a therapy than some older combinations. This led to making the paclitaxel and platinum drugs a significant treatment strategy.

Breast cancer adjuvant studies: Studies have revealed that sequencing of taxane therapy after other forms of chemotherapy might help in improving disease control and treatment results in certain cases of early breast cancer.

There are possible side effects associated with paclitaxel 260mg Injection, which include mild to severe symptoms that require immediate medical attention. Common ones are:

If an infusion is missed, contact the oncology department. The next cycle may be delayed or modified depending on blood counts, neuropathy, infection and the combination regimen.

• Regular blood tests are conducted to test the levels of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets including neutrophils, which are responsible for fighting infection.
  
• Any sensation of numbness, tingling, burning, or weakness in the hands and feet needs to be watched out for.
  
• Allergic reactions can be detected by checking the patient during the infusion process for symptoms like rash, swelling, difficulty breathing, or dizziness.
  
• Liver function may be checked through blood tests for any liver issues.
  
• Cardiac function may be monitored where there is risk involved.
